ABSTRACT

Objective To investgate prevalence and clinical significance of antiproteinase 3(PR3)an- tibodies in Wegener's granulomatosis(WG)and other vasculitis patients. Methods One hundred and eleven systemic vasculitis patients with WG(9 cases, including 21 serums of tracking WG patients)and other systemic vasculitis(102 cases),403 secondnary vasculitis CTD(SLE 213 cases,RA 135 cases),nephritis 62 cases,30 healthy subjects were examined for anti-PR3 and anti-MPO antibody by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)and ANCA by indirect immunofluorescence(IIF)was performed.Result Anti-PR3 positive were 23 in 588 serums of patients. The prevalence of anti-PR3 positive was WG(16/21,71.4 %),other systemic vas- culitis were not found anti-PR3,SLE(6/213,2.8%),RA(1/135,0.7%).In particular, the prevalence of anti- PR3 and cANCA with WG tended to be higher in the patients with other systemic and secondnary vasculitis (P<0.05).The sensitivity and specificity of anti-PR3 for diagnosis of WG were 71.42% and 98.58%.The sensi- tivity and specificity of combination anti-PR3 and cANCA were 61.90% and 99.82%.Anti-PR3 and cANCA are associated with treament of WG.Conclusion Anti-PR3 antibody has high specificity for diagnosis of RA. Detection of anti-PR3 and cANCA at the same time can improve the specificity considerably. As sensitive markers of WG,anti-PR3 antibody may be useful for diagonosis and early treament.Anti-PR3 also may be useful for activity and relapse of WG.

ABSTRACT

AIMTo study the relationships between the pathogenesis of persistent vegetative state (PVS) and the levels of monoamine neurotransmitters in plasmas and cerebrospinal fluids (CSFs) in patients with PVS.

METHODSThe high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to detect.

RESULTSIt was found that the level of dopamine (1.95 +/- 0.99) was significantly increased in plasma compared with the control (1.16 +/- 0.47) (P < 0.05), but the levels of 5-HT, TYR, TRP, GABA of plasma were insignificantly changed. In cerebrospinal fluid, the level of DA was insignificantly changed, and the level of 5-HT (0.49 +/- 0.32) was significantly decreased compared with the control (1.02 +/- 0.35) (P < 0.05), but the levels of TYR (1.36 +/- 0.11), TRP (0.63 +/- 0.40), GABA (1.15 +/- 0.61) were significantly increased respectively compared with the controls (0.40 +/- 0.24; 0.29 +/- 0.22; 0.37 +/- 0.45) (P < 0.05; P < 0.05; P < 0.01). The levels of GABA and DA in plasma were significant correlated (P < 0.05), and GABA and DA in CSF were also significant correlated (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONThe results of this study suggested that PVS is related to the decrease of 5-HT in CSF and the increase of DA in plasma.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the diagnostic value of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody(an- ti-CCP),rheumatoid factor,anti-perinuclear factor(APF)and anti-keratin antibody(AKA)for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis(JRA)and compare it with rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Methods Anti-CCP was determined by ELISA in 54 serum samples of JRA patients,31 from patients with other rheumatic diseases and 116 RA patients.RF was determined in the same samples by latex agglutination test.APF and AKA were determined by indirect immunofluorescent assay. Results The sensitivity of anti-CCP,RF,APF and AKA was 61.1%, 57.4%,37.0% and 18.5% and their specificity was 96.8%,93.6%,96.8% and 100%,respectively for the diag- nosis of JRA.The sensitivity of anti-CCP resembleed that of RF,Anti-CCP was more sensitivity than APF and AKA in JRA.The sensitivity of anti-CCP,RF,APF and AKA was 82.3%,78.3%,48.7% and 25.4% and their specificity was 95.7%,73.7%,91.6%,94.0% respectively, for the diagnosis of RA.Anti-CCP,RF,APF and AKA were less sensitive in JRA than in RA.There was no statistical significance in specificity of these anti- bodies for the diagnosis of JRA and RA.Conclusion The detection of anti-CCP,RF,APF and AKA are use- ful for the diagnosis of JRA,but are less sensitive than in adults RA.
